Tariq Awan, DO

Dr. Tariq Awan is the medical director of HealthyWeight. He is an international expert in sports medicine. He brings his expertise and personalized care in treating high level athletes as a team physician for multiple professional and collegiate sports teams to patients of all ages and activity levels. Dr. Awan treats obesity in adolescents and adults.

Prior to opening HealthyWeight, Dr. Awan was the head team physician for the Orlando Magic and served on the medical staff of the Detroit Pistons, Detroit Redwings, Detroit Tigers, and University of Michigan Wolverines.

Dr. Awan is also an active researcher, developing new therapies for the treatment of obesity and musculoskeletal disorders. He has directed several clinical trials and published numerous papers in prestigious scientific journals.

Dr. Awan is double board-certified in sports medicine and family medicine. He completed his medical school at the Chicago School of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University and his residency at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, where he served as Chief Resident. Following residency, Dr. Awan completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Mayo Clinic.
